Things I Like
Things I Like, Things I Like, Things I Like !!!!
Welcome to Things I Like!
Which is a weekly consumption report of Things I Like. o0o0o0o0o!!
This Newsletter is incredibly unimportant. There is absolutely no need to read it unless you are like me and love to procrastinate being an adult. It will most likely be filled with random delights that I’ve recently discovered and want to share because I like talking about Things I Like. Plus, it makes me feel cool. Content will range from meditative musings to unnecessary capitalistic consumer goods that I can’t get enough of. More often than not, it will walk the line between introspection and superficiality. I’m a Libra rising, deal with it.
Ground Rules:
No agenda IS the agenda
Haphazard Happenings ONLY.
No influencing. Do not waste your money on Things I Like1. I have no discount code for you. Or me. In fact, please do the exact opposite and give me all your moneyzzz instead » Venmo: @becca-law « (Shout out to Tavi for influencing me on this one. And to me for being ironic.)
Take-Backs are KOSHER (antisemitism is not). Things I Like can transmute into Things I Hate at any given moment. And you’re not allowed to be mean to me about it. Unless you are my mom because she still pays for my therapy.
Drop it Like it’s Hot every Friday and IDK, maybe actually be consistent with my hobbies for the first time in my life??
OKAY LET’S GET IT.
THING 1: Recently I have been playing Strands whenever I’m bored in class. It is SO much fun. The game is pointless and addicting, but I always feel *more smart* every time I play. It’s a one per day sort of challenge, so it can’t really spike your daily screen time so much. Unless you suck at it. Then you’re on your own.
THING 2: I am OBSESSED with my fraternal twins… AKA the earrings that Billy got me for my birthday. They’re from this local gem called Arlo Haisek that we randomly stumbled across in Florence, Italy. It’s mostly a jewelry store and everything is handmade. This whole day will forever be a favorite memory of mine. Watching Billy smile as he watched me melt while trying them on completely turned my heart to mush. AND the business owner/artisan is so freakin’ adorable, I’d pocket him and bring him back with us to the States if could! But I can’t, so the earrings shall suffice. Shopping local really is the coolest. I need to remember to do that more.
THING 3: Fleur de sel, Le Saunier de Camargue. Don’t like it, love it. I don’t know how this beautiful box of salt from the south of France appeared in my kitchen, but it did so now she shall be mine forever. Each grain of white crystalline is the perfect amount of flakey and fun, and it makes me feel super fancy as I sprinkle it on everything #SaltBae style (with zero justification, mind you). I have it positioned on my shelf for all to see like a proud family Christmas card. It’s so aesthetically pleasing. I will most likely never throw out the container and reuse it for, like, safety-pins or something stupid.

THING 4: Olivia Rodrigo’s album So American. Hell yes. Pop your shit, girl. Teenage angst is so bitchy and fun, I miss it.
THING 5: Saying “mind your business” in Italian: Fatti i cazzi tuoi! Learning Italian is way more fun when it’s coming from your sassy Italian friends who you adore oh so much. So, if I sound extra spicy in Italian (well, when trying to speak Italian at least) blame Stella and Rubina. It’s their fault, not mine. I am not above giving names.
THING 6: Dear Sugar, Advice Column #71: The Ghost Ship That Didn’t Carry Us written by Cheryl Strayed. I think this may be the most powerful thing I’ve read in years. In short, it is a reflective response in consideration of the binding decisions we make and the paths we do or do not take in our lifetime. I actually have a lot more to say on this so let’s circle back in a bit.
THING 7: The movie, Defending Your Life, that I watched with Billy on our latest FaceTime movie date. (Long distance lovers prevail!) It’s a 90’s RomCom with writer-director-star Albert Brooks (who Billy loves) and young Meryl Streep (who everyone loves)… enough said.
THING 8: My super cute, personalized Baume des Muses from Officine Universelle Buly that my friend Henrique got me for my birthday. Alongside his thoughtfulness, the details throughout this little box of love is what that makes it feel so special to me. The beautiful burgundy color, velvet pouch, my initials imprinted in gold, the store’s classic sophistication and long-standing history (founded in 1803), and the quality of the all natural balm itself is incredibly impressive to me. I love how quietly elegant I feel each time I whip it out while waiting for the tram. And as I lightly trace circles in the balm with my middle finger, adorned in scarlet red polish, and then gently glide it along my bottom lip… I feel like I’m seducing myself. It’s honestly inappropriate. And I’m obsessed. ALSO happy birthday to Henrique todaaaayyyy… it’s time to return the favor!

THING 9: “The End of The MrBeast Era” written by Patricia Hernandez for Polygon, which came as rec from Haley Nahman’s weekly consumption report. I never really got into MrBeast but I do follow him on Instagram, I think? Just in case I ever bump into him and he offers me like a new car or something under the condition of my current following status. Anyways, this article made me excited for what’s to come in the next era of YouTube. SO much so that I made my own channel. WOO!
THING 10: Erewhon Organic Almond Butter Crunch chocolate. My friend Peyton brought us all back some Erewhon goodies from her trip back home to L.A. and I freaked. In a good way. Living around the corner from Erewhon is probably the thing I miss the most about L.A. Well, behind Carly’s chicken (which is actually her dog) named Luna that is. The sea moss, $17 smoothies, a hot combo plate… UGH.

Okurrrr, that’s it for now! Thank you for entertaining Things I Like. See you again next week ᵕ̈
This excludes my Mom, Dad, Billy, and Lacey. You all are more than welcome to spend your money on Things I Like and to Venmo me at any given time. It’s not my fault that coffee just tastes sooooo much better when you guys buy it! xoxo

I mean… I loved your writing before it summated with back to back picture of my angel. I disagree that this is unimportant, and am about to dive into the Dear Sugar column and putting the movie on my next to view list!!
